2000 Ford Ranger IDLING VERY ROUGH

HI. MY HUSBAND HAS A 2000 FOR RANGER AND IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT IDLING VERY ROUGH. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. WE'VE CHANGED THE FUEL FILTER, THE PCV VALVE, THE SPARK PLUG AND WIRES AND NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP. ANY IDEAS?

-Check your fuel pressure
-Make sure there's no vacuum leak
-Check your egr valve (make sure it is not stuck open)
-Check compression

If the truck runs fine while driving, suspect a vacuum leak or a bad egr first.

It's not turning on the check engine light to throw a code for anything

There are many things that can go wrong with a car without turning on the check engine light.

By the way, even if it is not on, you may have codes in your computer. (Pending codes, history codes).
So check that out just in case.
