I've been having a problem with the automatic transmission shifting. It will jerk real hard into 2nd gear and then again into 4th gear. The engine will rev up high and then the transmission slams into gear. Lifting off of the gas pedal does not help with the problem. I was told by a mechanic that replacing the transmission filter and fluid that it would fix this problem. However, the problem continues. I had no metal flacks in the transmission pan or filter when changed, the fluid level has always been good and this just started about a month ago. I tried putting Lucas Transmission Fix in it, but that did absolutely nothing. Any idea what the problem could be besides the transmission going out in it? Thanks!

Lucas is only a temporary fix, take it in and have it serviced before it goes out on you when its in a bad spot, better to fix now then cause more damage?

What could the cause of this be? Could it just be to simply adjust the shift cable? I know that it's not the kickdown cable, since this model doesn't have one. I'm pretty good around a vehicle, I'm just looking for the cause of the problem. I'm at a total lose since when the filter was changed, there was no metal flacking at all in the transmission pan or in the gasket. If the transmission was going out completely, there would be a hint of metal somewhere in there. Right now, I'm at a total loss. The O/D OFF light finally stopped flashing though.

You may have worn synchronizers or a shift solenoids, but I doubt the later.

It is probably synchronizers, was the transmission overfilled?
