The engine loses power while driving. It misses periodically and then loses power. I am only able to drive about 5mph when this happens and when I press the accelerator while this is occuring it sounds as if it drowning out. I brought it to 2 different mechanics. The first mechanic said it was the mass air flow sensor and he changed it but before he gave the truck back he also told that the problem was not solved, he did not charge me because the problem was not corrected. The second mechanic said that he could find nothing wrong with the truck except that the injectors were dirty. He cleaned the injectors and said the truck was running fine, he charged me $230.00. The truck is still giving me the same trouble as before. I ran a diagnostic and received the following codes: 111, 157, 172, 177, and 542. I have replaced both O2 sensors and the problem is not solved. PLEASE HELP!

Hi spdjnky23,

Thank you for the donation.

Following are the code definations and some suggestions on what to check.

111 = System Pass.
157 = Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor circuit below minimum voltage.
Either the MAF is faulty or it has an open circuit in its wiring.
172 = System indicates lean (Bank #1). Could be due vacumn leakages or clogged injestors or fuel filter.
177 = System indicates rich (Bank #2). Oppocite condition for 172.
542 = Fuel pump circuit open - PCM to motor ground.

If you combine all the faults, some are related directly while others are indirectly connected. Based on such varied symptoms, I would suggest checking the Power Control Module and its connectors for looseness or contamination.

Worse case scenario would be a faulty PCM.
