Trailer blinkers rapid blinking?

When ever I have my trailer hooked up to my truck the blinkers flash rapidly but as soon as I detach it it flashes normally. Why does it do this?

Did you just install the wireing harness and is the pic below what you installed?

If the pic above is not what is installed that could be your problem. The harness above has a power modulator, I believe that what is it called. And without that in the loop the is to much power being pulled to the trialor and will cause the fast blinking. Its like it a bulb was burned out. If you look at the tail lights before hooking up the trailor notice the brightness, then hook up the trailor and again notice the brightness. The lights are dimmer than they should be causing the vehicle to think that there are bulbs burns out in turn causing the fast blinking.

I did install a similar device as you have shown but the one you show is a little different than mine. Mine just adds the trailer hool on spot. I will get the modulator and try that. Ty.
