Dear Bob and Ken,

I got a couple questions for you. I bought a 2004 Ford Mustang Convertible with only 5,085 miles on it. I have had it for almost 8 months now. I have been running Pennzoil platinum 5W-20 in it and was thinking of going to Amsoil because I heard that it is the best oil out there. Even better than Mobil 1 and all the other full synthetic oils in motor tests. Is it better than all the other motor oils and what kind of filter can I use. I heard the best filter out there is a K and N filter from Autozone. Also, if I use Amsoil, HOW MANY MILES SHOULD CAN I GO TO CHANGE THE OIL. I heard 7,500 is when you should change the oil and filter using Amsoil motor oil. My car calls for 5W-20, but I put 5W-10 in it. Is that ok or no? I heard using 5W-10 will get you better gas mileage, but not as much power because it is not as thick. I don't like to hear whatever the manufacturer manual says. It says 7,500 on the back of Amsoil motor oil. Can and should I go 7,500 before I change it? If I am using full synthetic I should be able to longer than 3 thousand. Then how long should I go before changing it? 7,500 miles like the back of the Amsoil bottle says.

Sincerely,

Nick

Best thign to do is go by what the oil says, usual oil is 3,000 but synthetic can last up to 7,500.

With your oil delima I would not use 5w-10 in the winter, it is so thick you would really have fun getting the car to start in bellow zero weather, but in the summer go for it!
