2000 mustang service engine soon light is on and stays on what are the possible causes and could this be a exspensive fix?

Theres alot that could trigger the service engine light. Its impossible to tell without any info. What you can do though is take it to your local auto parts store and have them run a diagnosis. Most of them do it for free. That will tell you why your service engine light is on.
