Shakes or Wobbles problem
1998 Ford Mustang 6 cyl 161,000 plus miles

My car is running lean codes are 171 and 174. I have been to 3 different mechanics had a tune up changed my battery and still have the same issue. Rough idle, car almost shuts off and check engine light comes on. The problem first started a few weeks ago went to get gas and when I went to turn my car back on it wouldn't start had to get a jump but it was fine. Few weeks later got an "oil change" and that same night the same thing my car wouldn't come back on got a jump, started to drive but then was stuck in stop and go traffic and thats when the shaking started and proceeded to get worst as I drove. Check engine light was intermittent and my car was misfiring every time I pressed the gas to keep it going. Just brought to another mechanic he sealed something the crank I think that didn't fix the problem either.4 damn mechanics and 300 dollars wasted smh I'm so sick of this already. Need someone who knows what to look for and how to fix it please

When it wouldnt start would car crank? Or no battery was dead.

Was the check engine light on at all before you filled up car or as soon as you jumped the car the issues arrose.

And have you filled up since then?

I would try filling up the tank again and having the codes cleared and see if they c ome back. Sounds like the fuel may have had excessive amounts of water in it. Let me know if it comes back and we can go further into the problem. Unless you would like to do that now.

Well I haven't filled it up but had half a tank and it was fine for a few days but it's still doing the same thing. Today when it happened I was driving for awhile and it started to shake when I stopped and the check engine light was blinking. I should have just went to ford instead of paying 300 hundred and still having the problem now I have to wait to get the 125 to get the diagnostic test from ford smh.

After you get the code post it back here and I can try and assist you if you want to make sure the dealership is charging you properly etc.

I believe it's still the same two codes 171 and 174 running lean on bank 1 and 2 but when I get the chance to go to ford I will see if they say the same. The other mechanic said he wants to check the fuel injectors because cylinder 5 on my car isn't firing right which he should have done already he's had my car twice for 4 days smh but said ge couldn't get it to shake and he never put it on a lift to check in the manifold. But he charged me 80 dollars to do the nothing he did when he had it b4 and was surprised when I told him it was doing the same thing. Do u think it could be the injectors?
