1970 Ford Maverick over charging at high RPM's

1970 Ford Maverick V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 80000 miles

I changed the alternator it 's 65 amp. I don't know what the regulator amp's are but the battery boiling out acid and the gauge is showing 16.5 plus amps at high rpms what can I do to correct this problem

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

I would be checking the volts at that rpm and replacing the voltage regulator if high, secondly make sure that its not a 24V alternator that has been fitted.
