2002 Ford LTD changing FUEL pumb

Dear sir
we have ford shop here and we have this problem
after changing the fuel pumb for ( ford transit ) we have to send it to another city to reset the computer,
how can we avoid this problem
and what is the best diagnosis tools we can use to solve this problem
is Ford IDS VCM is good to solve this
or we have to find other solution
