This car runs great but sometimes when you start it up and some times when your at an idle it will start to run bad. It feels like a miss and only last for a few seconds. It set a code for a random miss fire on #4. When I don't know. I cleared the code and it has not reset it. I found cracks in the coil and thought I found the problem but a new coil did not work. Plugs and wires look OK. Is there something tiypical to look for on a 01 Ford Focas with this kind of problem?

The reader showed when I first hooked it up a ramden missfire #4. I cleared the code. It has not reset any codes but I still get what feels like a miss fire but it does not last long enough to set a code or to try to find what cyl. Is missfiring.

Sometime, spark plug cables can hide problem in the boot,
I mean half broken wire in the boot when pulling it off from the spark plug.
We have to make really sure that the cables are very good by changing all of them.
Also if the coil was crack and changed, it has put some stress on the # 4 spark plug wire even if it look ok.
Changing that wire or all of them could solv the problem.

To follow up with what was wrong with this car. I talked with the owner of the car he was able to take the car to a shop where they were able to incert a camera in to the cly's. And found that #4 had a lose intake valve guide. It would some times not alow the valve to close and ended up replacing the Head.
Thank's for the info you were able to provied. They said it was a common problem with tihis car. FYI incase you come apon this again.
Stevis.
