2000 Ford Focus 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello. I need to buy a new engine for my 2000 Ford Focus SE 4.0 L DOHC. I have been told that when I buy the engine I need to make sure it has the "brain" or ECM, otherwise it won't run properly. I have also been told that this is not true. Can you please help!

If you buy the same engine, you dont need a new PCM your car has one, if you do buy a new PCM, Ford would need to program it to your vehicle, save the expense. Buy the same engine type.
