390 question

Can any one tell me what years they put the 390 in the fords and if theres any way to tell a 390 from a 352 and 360 without getting the numbers or tearing it open. I just bought a 70 ford f100 and the sticker says its a 390 ci but later I noticed the sticker was covering 1 that cant be revealed. It sounds good not like the trash valve train in the 360, ill be opening it up soon but was just curious if any oldtimer knewa visual or something. Thanks owen

I don't think 70 F100 comes with a 390-its all 302 as far as I could recall unless modified.

I had a 75 F250/390 its beenlong long time if Ican remember its something do with the bypass hose and the baffle plate under the intake.

Also in the mid 70's 460's on the F250

Also the 351's C/M/W came in.

BTW if its a 390 make sure you put the bypass hose on the intake before you mount it otherwise you gonna have a hard time connecting it if you go the other way BTDT.

Thanks for the input the guy I got it from has sent for a lost title it may be a bit newer or older but ill look an see.
Also its the mid block aka by chevy fans big block. I know its either a 352 360 or 390 an from my experience which is only a little around a half of dozen of em it dont have the blow by an valve chatter of the 360. Its not a small block or a 460 I was just curious as ill play with it this winter an see for sure. Just a little toy worth a custom restoration and ride on the weekends. I gotta skin the doors an bottom front fenders an bottom of tailgate an a coat of paint she will be pretty sharp. If you like these old birds. When I get the body done I might start wakeing the motor upbut she really runs good. I may just give her a tune up and im thinking a 750 holley as I had it on my chevelle till I put a 1100dominator on her. Thanks agin. Owen
