Okay not sure what happened to the only key I have for this truck. All I know is that it is lost. I want to replace the switch but not sure how for sure. I have done it on our 97 F 350 when it wore out but I had the key for it then. Is the procedure similiar?

Hello
Thanks for the donation.

You may want to check on having a key made at your local Ford dealer before purchasing and replacing the ignition switch. Just give them your VIN and they should be able to cut out the key and program it specifically for your vehicle. It will be much quicker and easier than replacing the switch.

If you still want to replace the ignition switch, just let me know and I will provide you with detailed removal/installation instructions.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick answer! You were correct Ford could make a key using my serial # to find the key code. Only problem was that it has a chip in it and needs to be programmed. They need the vehicle for that, needed to be towed to dealership. Got a key made so tow driver could unlock steering column turns out the dealership was wrong. It did not need to be programmed truck started on unprogrammed kay and runs just fine. Moral of the story is don't be an idiot and lose your key! The only key anyway!
Thanks again
