Engine Performance problem
1990 Ford F250 V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual 200k miles

If I run the engine above 2000 RPM, it suddenly revs up to 3000 RPM and stays there. I have to engage the clutch to bring the idle back down to normal idle. Then it will stay there and idle fine until I want to drive and it starts all over again. I have stopped driving it due to safety concerns and not wanting to burn up my clutch trying to bring the idle down. Could this be caused by the IAC and can it be cleaned?

Yes, the IAC can be removed and cleaned with plain old carb cleaner. This is a common problem with Ford trucks.

Glad to help. Let me know if that doesn't do it. Then we'll go to "plan B", whatever that is.
