Make sure you have the correct socket for the job, which is a 5/8's spark plug socket, this type of socket has a rubber inside that grabs on to the spark plug when your taking it out, next mae sure you have the socket firmly down on the plug and when you go to loosen it mae sure you don't have your ratchet angled in a spot that puts pressure on the spark plug

Yes they will break off leaving shield and porceline in head.
Engine NOT WARM at room temp. Back off plug 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Then fill plug hole up to jamb nut hex about 1/2 t0 3/4 teaspoon with carb cleaner. This will soften carbon and ease removal. Let soak minum of 15 minutes. Then using a back and forth motion ie. Tighten and loosen plug remove plug. May hear creeking sound if plug get tight stop add more cleaner. If electrode shield breaks off need Rotunda special service tool 303-1203 to remove. If porceline also broken off need another Rotunda tool 303-1398.
If you got lucky coat new plug with nickel anti-sieze compound.
