My question is really whacky. Driving down the road tachometer and speedometer peg out odometer goes and engine dies leaving me on the side of the road. Luckily wait a few minutes it starts up again. Have had it towed to the dealership twice. They have replaced the transciever on the ignition switch and I only had one PATS key programmed at the time and they cut one and programmed it leaving me with 2 keys now. Got off work went to start it 2 days ago theft light continues to blink all the time leaving odometer blank. I had my brother come hook up a chain and tow it home. Get an 1/8 of a mile odometer comes back on after the tachometer and speedometer reset themselves was able to start the truck being towed. Other morning get in, theft light blinking, I take the truck out of gear push it maybe 3 feet and the theft light goes off and I can start the truck. Now, is it the cluster? Or what? One day fine, next day nothing. Dealership thinks it's a short. Im tired of paying towing fees. It's like everytime the towed it gets to the dealer ship and throws no codes at all!

Actually, it sounds like the PCM may be going bad. The anti-theft will shut it down and is controled by it. It could also be a short. However, I don't think the cluster has anything to do with it. Clusters go bad, but they have no affect on the performance. I would ask them to check the PCM.

I was behind the wheel being towed today. Roughly an 1/8 of a mile the cluster started working again. Got into my driveway was able to start the truck. Ofcourse I had the key in run position for the guages to work while being towed. Why such intermittent work one day but move the vehicle and it starts working? Short? Where? I have no clue anymore. Ofcourse when I got it in it today the theft light blinked continuously. Odometer didn't even have a. My ownly question is. Why isn't this covered by FOMOCO? They put the PATS system on a vehicle. Why do they not repair it? Only thing I can think is I had a 3 yr 36000 on the truck which I guess would explain a bad PCM. Other than that I don't know. Thanks guys.
