My friend needs to know how to replace the tub water by-pass on his 2000 Ford F150 pickup

Ok I need a better discription of the hose. I don't understand what the tube water bypass is. So if you would tell me where the hose goes. For example coolant resevior to the lower hose or from timing cover to the thermostat etc. If you can include a pic. Thanks
