I have a 1997 Ford F150 V8 4.6L with 160,000 miles.
The brake lights do not go on when the pedal is depressed. This is causing a problem moving the gearshift from Park and I have had to remove the 5 amp Brake Shift Interlock Fuse to allow the gearshift to move. What should I check. Thanks.

I'm not real familiar with your truck to give you specific information, but I would check the brake switch that is mounted on or near the break pedal. It should be easy to locate. Either the switch is bad or it might need adjusting of it's position to make sure the pedal is operating the switch when it's pressed down. Also check the wiring harness to the switch, make sure its plugged in all the way.

Check the fuse for the circuit first.
