Electrical problem
1985 Ford F150 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 200k miles

I went to start my '85 F-150 one day and the battery was dead. I jumped it and it died again. I replaced the battery with a new one. The next day it too was deader than a doornail. Is this a short? What would cause the battery to drain so fast? The alternator, starter relay, voltage regulator are all about 3 years old. I have checked it repeatedly front to back for loose wires, frays, exposed wires, etc. All apears to be good

You need to recheck the alternator and voltage regulator too

Thanks. It seems strange, all I did was hook up the battery and let it sit.

one other thing, it appears to boil over the contents of the battery? What could cause that?

If you mean that the battery acid was boiling over that is a sign of over charging
which will ruin the battery
check the charging system
