The other day I was driving down the road and my oil gauge started going up & down erratically then the check gauge light came on. I stopped by the gas station and put some oil in, that help but only for about 5 minutes then it started to do it all over again. What could it be? It's not the oil pressure I had it checked. Also my O/D lights always flashes never goes off had transmission checked all is good. HELP!

As far as the oil gauge, I would recommend replacing the oil sending unit to see if that is the problem. It is easy to do. Keep in mind, I am assuming that there was no knocking or ticking coming from the engine.

As far as the lights, take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most will do it for free, so there will be no money out of pocket. THis should identify what is causing the lights to come on. Before you leave, ask them what the codes are and to reset the computer to see if the light comes back on.

Let me know what you find.
