Transmission problem
1994 Ford Explorer 4 cyl Automatic

I need a new transmission in my 94 explorer. My question is, does the transmission need to be from the same year as the vehicle or could I use a newer one?

I found this info, not sure how accurate. If you have the a4ld, I don't believe you can go newer. the a4ld went to 4r44e in 95 and is electronically controlled.

I'm not a tranny person, I just ran across that info.
