My 98 ford escort SE has over 100,000 mil. Its an automatic (on the floor), vibrates and cuts out in low idle and service light begins to blink after traveling short distance, we recently replaced the oil sending unit and the spark plugs. If its a vacuum leak where under the hood would I begin to look! :(

I would recommend you go to Auto Zone or some place similar and have them read the engine fault codes. Then go to https://www.2carpros.com/trouble_codes/obd2 and find out what the problem is. This should help you narrow down what the actual problem is, and then you can fix the problem. Good luck !!

Check the plugs and wires. If a wire is loose, it won't make full contact and the plug may miss. Air flow shouldn't be a problem, and if it was, it would register a fault code, not just have the MIL flash. The flashing MIL indicates misfire, like you said. Also, have your distributor checked. Basically, work your way back from the plugs to the distro.
