2000 Ford Escort rough idle

I just had my mech. Put in a timing belt on and the car will start up but it idles rough and wants to stall when giving gas runs good but when I let off it wants to stall out but not all the time. Rpm`s jump up and down any info will help thanks.

And it didnt do it before,
have them recheck the timing marks
what do u have for engine I can look it up for u

Inspect and test the idle air control valve/mass airflow and throttle position sensors-might also need an idle relearning due to battery disconnection
