1999 Ford Escort I connected the battery backwards

1999 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i had a bad battery and replaced it but when I did I connected the battery backwards then when I realized my mistake I corrected the problem but not the car will not start it cranks but won't run I checked all the fuses and replaced what was blown but the car will not start where do I go from here please help

Are you getting spark and fuel to the engine?

The car is NOT getting spark but is getting gass

It could be many things. Have you checked to see if there is power to the coil?
