My car's SRS light has flashed code (53) on two occasions, with a three week interval functioning normally. I will say that the two instances occurred on mornings that were pretty cold. After the car has sat parked and restarted, the flashing would not take place. Does this just sound like a fluke, or can I take some action checking the circuitry.

Thanks!

If any of you have the same thing going on with your 1997 Ford Escort, try this before you do anything else.
Check the connection under the driver seat that ties the SRS system to the sealt belt. Even if the connector looks fine. Take them apart and see if you have any corrosion forming. If you do, cut the connectors off. Trim the insulation off of both wires and use wing nuts to reconnect them. After I did this, all is the way it should be.
