HAD A NEW HEAD AND GASKETS PUT ON BNUT RUNS HOT -- THE COOLING FAN I NOTICED IS NOT RUNNING -- MY QUESTION IS I HAVE A BAD BATTERY THAT WANT STAY CHARGED WOULD A BAD BATTERY PREVENT THE FAN FROM RUNNING --
I CAN JUMP THE CAR OFF AND IT WILL RUN BUT THE FAN'S NOT RUNNING

First, a bad battery shouldn't keep your fan from running. You do need to check a few things. Turn the A/C on which should turn the fan on continuously. You should also apply 12V directly to the fan to be sure it will run. Temp gauges in these Escorts fail all the time showing HOT so you need to verify that it is actually hot. Bad Fan control relays can go bad causing the fan not to come on too.
