My dipstick tube came out during some other work, and I can't get it back in. I am cooling it in ice trying to shrink it so it fits. But in case it doesn't work, I need some advice. I may have to cut a slot in it and crimp it a bit. But I would rather not.

Use a dead blow hammer and tap it in, with the stick removed! Of course. If you have to use a small box end wrench and slide it down to the crimp, then tap!

Merlin.
The danged thing is hard to line up to start it. I'm not able to check and hope not to have to take things apart to get at it better.
