Hello my van has had an intermittent miss for three months I went to firestonethey said it had an intermittent miss but didnt know the cause I talked to a friend of mine he thinks the van has so many miles on it the problom might be the timing belt or chain coil packs cost too much to go replacing all of them I think it is in the throttle body or something becaus the van sputters when I first take off. I hope there is an easy way to figure this out it is getting worse by the week please help terry

Do you have a check engine light and when was the last major tune-up?

Engine running rough or misfiring can be cause by the following:

1. Defective spark plug.
2. Inadequate spark/coil, defective spark plug wire.
3. Lack of compression
4. False air leakage.
5. Faulty fuel injectors.
6. Insufficient fuel pressure.
7. Contaminated fuel.
8. EGR valve that is leaking.
9. Oxygen sensors.

In responce to the question my check engine light has been on for about three months andi don't know when the last tune up was done I know not within the last year I had 1 spark plug blow out on me thats when the trouble started and I have to use my impact to get any of the rest of them out I changed # 5 and that madethe van run worse. I should take the van to ford for analysis? Thanks terry
