2000 Ford Crown Victoria codes without engine light

Can an engine be throwing codes even though the engine light is not on?

HI there,

Yes this can happen with most cars on the market, normally only critical codes are indicated with the engine check light coming on, the ECU should be check for "hidden" codes at each service.
