1998 Ford Contour Shuts down each time stop

Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Ford Contour 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Engine shuts off when coming to a stop.
Has also shut down while driving at low speed.
Was told could have jumped time, but starts up fine and doesnt buck at all like out of time,
Any ideas

If it jumped time, it would be lucky to be running. So I say no to that. As far as your description, I have a couple things for you to check. First, make sure there are no vacuum leaks around the engine. Also, remove the idle air control motor from the throttle body an make sure it isn't frozen. There is a plunger that should move. Finally, remove the EGR valve and check to make sure it isn' plugged with carbon as well as the intake where it bolts.
