My contour will shift into what I call passing at anytime..The the tact will zoom up to 3500, although the car will not be going any faster. Sometimes it will jerk like if I was hauling a trailer and stepped on accelerator to quick. I have had the transmission flushed, plugs and wires changed, value gasket cover, and replaced the alternator all at the best guess of my local ford garage, yet it continues. Most of the time it does it after the car has warmed up..usually about 10 miles. Any guesses? Yes the ford garage has had it on computer every time its been there.

If the tach goes up and the vehicle doesnt speed up, it is most likely the trans. It could have a seal going out in the trans that allows pressure changes within the trans causing the slippage, it may have a stick valve in the valve body or even a solenoid that is hanging up. Trans shops will have what is called "break-out" boxes that they can plug in and control the trans manually while watching pressure gauges to see what is going on. Especially if it hasnt thrown any trouble codes related to the trans.
