1997 Ford Contour first oil change

How do I remove the oil gasket?

I assume you mean it's the first oil change you have done! 208,000 and one change, can't be! All you do is remove the bolt from the oil pan, let it all drain out, put a new plastic washer on the bolt, tighten the bolt, now remove the oil filter, you may need a filter wrench, clean the mating surface with a rag, and check to make sure the old filter gasket did't stay up there. With your finger rub some of the new oil on the new filter's rubber gasket, screw it on hand tihgt! Fill crankcase with correct amount of oil and start, let it warm up and check for leaks!
