Hi,

I have these fault codes showing on may vehicle listed above, which I read following the car no engaging gear, and showing Engine Management Light and Fault Transmission. Reading online, P1733 has said Low Transmission Oil or Speed Sensor and the other people have said different things either sensor, Control unit, Oil or Solenoids. Just wondering if anyone has any advice or past experience with these two errors together? My plan at the moment is to do a PDK Service and Oil Change and see if that cures the fault but any input would be appreciated. Vehicle listed above is a 4 3.6L V6.

These codes are more then likely sensor or wiring codes. I attached the code description of the P1733 but the 34 code is basically the same thing. When checked the codes, did they provide which shift rod displacement sensor it was referring too? It was either 1, 2, 3, or 4.

Let me know and we can go from there. It won't hurt to do has you were planning but if that doesn't work out we will need to dig into the electrical side of it. Thanks

Hello, I have the same issue on the same model car Panamera 4 year 2012 with 123,000kms. Was there more information on how this was resolved. I changed the fluid and the battery with no luck. Any response would be much appreciated. Thank you

Unfortunately they never responded with the correction. If they do that would be great but are you able to review the testing for this that I attached above and run through it?

Let us know what questions you have on that material and we can go from there.

Hello KaseKenny1, thank you for your response, do you have some more detail (procedure) on how I can check the electricals? Where can I get access to the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) or the harness at the transmission? Or could I do any checks at the fuse box? Currently the car is intact and I'm waiting to do some research. If you have a procedure for how I can do these tests with a multimeter, that would be appreciated. Thank you again.

Do you have the dual dry clutch transmission?

If so the most likely cause to have both the 1733 and 1734 code is the PDK control unit. It is unlikely to be multiple sensors or two separate lines.

I am attaching the info below from the manual. Unfortunately there is not a lot of material on these codes. However, as I said the most likely cause is the unit.

Please run through this material and let us know if you have more questions. Thanks

Thank you again, this information is very useful. I understand your point about getting multiple errors and that being indicative of a the PDK control unit, but it is also possible that the error on multiple sensors as a result of failed potting or connection. Is there any way you can advise me to perform a test to confirm whether it is the sensor or the PDK Control Unit. This would be very helpful.

I have described some of the symptoms of the error below.

At first, as part of the symptoms the error occurred about three times over a span of 300 kms (twice on the highway and once on morning start in the garage). For each of these 3 instances after the car was restarted the error cleared.

After the transmission oil was changed, the error started to occur much more frequently. During one of the instances I kept trying to restart the car to clear the error, but this did not work. I had to wait about 2 hours and started the car with success. Moved the shifter to manual and drove it to the shop. I don't have enough data but since it has been turning to spring and the temperature getting warmer, the error seems to be happening more frequently.

Yes. Sorry, I should have explained this more. These two codes are telling you that the PDK control unit is not sending the correct voltage to the transmission.

You have sensor 3 and 4 codes so we need to make sure the wiring is ok by checking for a short to voltage and short to ground. Then you need to check the resistance of the wires to see if there is high resistance or an open circuit.

I attached the wiring diagrams and the instructions again talking about this.

Let me know if you have questions on this and we can go from there. Thanks
