Hello,

I went to move my car the other day and it slowly shut off while moving it. It turns on and the engine will crank twice but then I hear a bit of a grinding sound and a burning smell comes from under the hood no smoke though. Not sure what it could be. Thanks in advance. I'd like to add that I did have trouble accelerating uphill and when I first start the car for the day it was like someone put a few bricks in the engine but after a while of driving it was fine.

Hi,

If you smell something burning, be careful even if you see no smoke. It could be an issue with engine timing. When the engine slowly stalled, was the check engine light on?

Also, check to make sure the accessory drive belt is turning when the engine does turn over.

Also, is it possible for you to record the engine cranking and upload it for me to hear?

Let me know.

Joe

Thank you for replying, Joe. I went to go and make a video, but it actually started. I did it 3 times and it started all 3 times. I'm confused. I will see if it works tonight to take it to work and will update you!

Hi,

That's actually good news, but concerning. I don't like the idea that you smelled something burning.

Let me know how things turn out for you or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe
