I just bought a 1999 ram 1500 with the 5.9 magnum to pull the engine and swap it to a 1997. I was just wondering if it was compatible and if anyone can give me some tips on parts I'll need to change that would be great.

Yes, VIN code Z designates that that motor is the same and therefore compatible. What tips would you like to know? Should be a straight forward swap. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
