Engine light when air conditioner off

Car runs fairly well, but, when the air conditioner is off (no compressor), the check engine light comes on. If the unit is turned back on, the light goes out after a few minutes. The air conditioner itself only cools occasionally. The unit has been bled, but still shows a dangerous level of pressure.

Does your radaitor fan come on with the ac?What are the high and low side pressure readings at idle with the ac on?Also what are the exact code numbers you ave in the computer?
