My vehicle usually just sits. Engine is a 2500. Took it to get smog, at that time engine light was not on. It did not pass smog was told it passed two out of three and I should drive it more. I drove it home, which is about forty miles from where I had smog done. Next morning I get into it to drive around a little more and engine light goes on once I started it and has stayed on. Took it to Pep Boys for diagnostic and it came up as :
P0141 (2 of 2) H02S Heater Performance Bank 1 Sensor 2.
Could you tell me how to fix to pass smog and get rid of engine light on?
Thank you in advance.

Good morning

The code is for the heater circuit for the affected O2 sensor. In most cases, it is the sensor that has failed but voltages need to be checked to confirm. Once they repair the issue, drive the car for about a day or two and the light will go out on its own if they fixed the issue.

Otherwise, if you clear the codes the monitors will clear and you will need to drive the car for a drive cycle. Most people have issues doing this procedure since it is a very specific way of driving a car to set the monitors.
