Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com. The first thing you need to do is have the computer scanned. If the check engine light is coming on, there will be trouble codes stored which will indicate where the problem is coming from.

If the light is on, is it safe to drive. Take a look at this link:
If you scan the vehicle yourself, you will need to find the data link connector, (DLC). It is under the dash on the driver's side. I have attached two pictures for you. Note: Many of the parts stores will scan the computer for you for free.
Once you find the trouble codes, get back to me and let me know what you found. That way, I can help solve the problem.
