My Acadia has been sitting for around 5 months. I just put a starter and alternator on it and now there’s a knock from the engine but no check engine light. I hooked a scanner to it. It’s giving p0011, p0014, and p0021 codes.

Hi,

All three codes are related to the camshaft position solenoid actuators. This could be from sitting, but I feel that is unlikely.

Is the engine oil clean and full? Have you checked if any mice chewed on wiring on the engine?

If you look below, I attached the description and diagnostics for the codes. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them. Also, at this point, I don't think it is timing related as far as a timing chain because you have one of the four sensors not setting a code.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

joe

My oil is reading full, but I changed the oil during the months the truck was sitting and not operable.

Hi,

The timing of the oil change is fine. That wouldn't cause any issues. Are you comfortable performing the diagnostics I listed above?

Let me know.

Joe
