Engine is running extremely rough

Last night ran completely out of gas. Put approximately one and half gallons of gas into tank that did contain rust particles and now vehicle is experiencing low compression, knocking, major vibrations and the check engine soon light is on. What should I do? Can someone please help me?

Hello,

I think the low compression is telling us the engine has had some kind of mechanical breakdown. Here is a guide that will help you find the cause.
