Need to add coolant. Don't have antifreeze. Can I add straight water?

Technically if your in a pinch you can. However, diluting the mixture does have consequences.. How much do you need to add? Are you flushing the entire coolant system and need to add water only? The reason for the proper ratio of coolant/water is to lower the freezing point and raise the boiling point of the water in the vehicles engine and radiator.
