Hi there I have a question about detailing an engine bay. Can you use a high pressure hose on them? What year cars do you not need to cover electrics, distributor cap and other componets? Please help as I do not want to damage customers cars.

You can wash engine bays just don't direct high pressure water directly at electrical connections, with distributors you are better off removing and drying out as water will condense under cap and cause a misfire.

But aren't most of the modern cars wires/electrics and distributor cap covered anyway?

Most cars have things covered but water gets in there anyway, after washing the engine leave the hood open in the sun and let it dry completely before starting the engine it all you can do.

Try not to use a high pressure washer, just soap and sponge, most mechanics recommend not to wash the engine because of the electrical.

Best, Ken
