I took my car for an Inspection to Firestone (mistake) and after leaving I noticed my cars handling was off. Got home and noticed they had rotated my tires without my knowledge and the engine, ABS and traction control lights were illuminated. They refuse to fix the problem. I ran a scanner test and the P0500 code came up. Vehicle Speed sensor A. I recently noticed that they put the tires mismatched. LF and RR are 165/65/15 and the RF and LR are 165/55/15. I want to know if I put matching tires on the front and back if that would take care of the speed sensor problem? And if not, which sensor on the transmission housing do I need to change in order to eliminate the lights? Thank you.

Hello,

The mismatched tires will trigger speed sensor code as the oration speed of each wheel will be different. This can also damage the transmission, for having mismatched tires on the front.
So, the first step would be to have the correct tire installed. You will find the tire size on the inside edge of the driver side door or on the base of the B pillar.

After the tire sizes are matched, you will need to reset the code. If there was no damage caused by this the mismatched tires, the code should not come back on.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
