I recently went through a large puddle and at first my car wouldn’t start but now it starts, and my engine makes this sputtering sound. And I’m not able to accelerate.

Hello,

It sounds like you might have water in the engine or other components.

First of all, you will need to do a thorough inspection and look for standing water under the hood.
Also, you will need to open the air filter box and see if it is soaked with water. If the water gets high enough it will get sucked through the intake and will be in the engine. It can also get in other electrical components and create issues.
It will be important to check the oil and see if there is water in it.
If the throttle body or the mass air flow sensor is wet, it will not run properly.

So, take a look under the hood and let me know what you find. Be sure to dry off any water if still on any of the components.

If there is water in the oil you will have to change the oil and filter as well as clean out the throttle body and mass air flow sensor.

Please let me know what you find or if you have any questions.
Thank you.
