We replaced the EGR valve. The diagnostic test auto zone said that is what it was. Now it will not start. Turns over really good and then at other times seems like the starter is dragging or it won't engage at all. So I bump it and get a good spot and it would start. Once started it runs like a top. But now I can't make it start for anything.

Good morning,

First, let us start with the code you had. You got a free code read at AutoZone, not a diagnostic. Codes rarely identify bad parts, just failed systems.

Did you have this issue prior to replacing the EGR valve? Did you verify that all connections are good that you touched?

Before the starter was doing the slow drag. Other times you would hear the fuel pump engage and nothing else, so I would bump it until I got the starter to go eight to ten times and it would start. So husband told me get the diagnostic test, get the part, he put it on. He pretty much knows what he doing.

Okay, again, I need the code that was set.

As far as the starter, there is no code for that.

If it clicks away until it cranks, the starter is the issue for that.

The slow drag could be from a battery issue. Have him load test the battery and check the voltage while cranking. It should not be lower than 11 volts while cranking.

The battery is new. Voltage was good. Wires and fuse good. Today we will check the rest. Thank you so much, Gerri Russell
