Is the ecm in the 1998 and 2004 Stratus interchangeable?

No they are not due to different emissions. They also would need to be programmed by a professional.

Only paid 500 dollars for the car, it kind of sounds like an expensive fix to me. No issues have started yet. I had one relays put it on the computer and the ecm code came up. But they had no idea what it meant.

They only sell parts they are not mechanics. If it says ecm then there is either a connection problem or wiring issue or ecm.
