I have a fleet of four 07 Sprinter 3500 vans. I have had to replace the Plastic oil Filter housing on each one of my vans sometimes more then once because of oil leaking. This morning while the driver was backing the van into the loading dock the oil started leaking out of the oil fiter cap. No prior warning. yester day it was fine and dry and today it was leaking and not just a drip or two. It was running out. The Filter was changed at 85,413 miles and the oil fiter cap was replaced last at 68,805 on this same truck because of this same problem. My question is: Is this a problem with Sprinter vans with this engine or is this something that my drivers or my repair shop is doing to cause this. I have searched the internet and can not find anyone else listing this problem.

Thank you.

I have had the same problem with a 2004 5 cylinder. I have been told that it was from over-tightening the cap. I have tried a new cap, hand-tight as per instructions, and it lasted about 100 miles before it started leaking again. Hope someone finds a fix for this. If I do, I'll post it.
