My Ram diesel has recently started having electrical problems mostly when the engine hasn't yet reached normal operating temp. While driving the whole instument cluster will light up (all the warning lights) and the guages will blink to zero then resume normal. A couple times the truck has hick-uped or stalled for about 1/2 a second. Have checked all wires in column and to starter and generator, no codes, or check engine light?

Hi moburchette,

Thank you for the donation.

Symptoms indicates a likely ignition switch fault. When power supply from the ignition switch is cut off, the alternator is providing power and is reverse flowing thus the instrument cluster would light up.

I would suggest checking the ignition switch. When problem occurs or you have been driving for some time, check if the ignition switch is hot to the touch. Check for signs of melted solders at base of ignition switch wire terminals.
