My oil gauge keeps dropping to '0' and after a few seconds pops back up to normal. after awhile, it will drop to '0' and stay until engine is turned off. every time the engine is cranked, the pressure starts off normal.
Is this probably the oil pressure switch? Where is it located?

If it drops to 0psi and you hear nothing from the engine (knocking, ticking...) then it is most likely the switch. When an oil pump goes, they usually go bad and don't work again. The switch is located near the distributor (I think behind it) However, here is a picture of one. It shows it on the side of it.

Let me know if this helps you. Remember, If I recall correctly, it is actually behind the distributor sitting lower than where the distributor mounts. Joe
