2001 Dodge Ram Fuel leak

Diesel fuel leaks from the top of the tank. Can be only half full and doesn't do it all the time. Tank has lots of pressure when fuel cap is openned.

Possibly need a vented cap?

No, if it leaks when only half full you may have a bad line on top of the tank or a bad seal where the filler neck goes in. The vent system is designed to capture all fumes from the fuel, so it is basically a sealed system. Try using a flashlight and a mirror to see if you can locate the source of the leak on top of the tank. Otherwise it may need to come out to find it.

The leaks can occur with the tan k at any degreee of fullness and has happened only about 6 times in the last 6 Month.

Can you see any stains where the fuel was that may lead to the source?
